A Far cry from a good game
Work was pretty bullshit today... It was pretty much exactly what I had pictured happening, and it was unenjoyable as expected.
When I got to work I started right away on the two sandwich events that we had, a picnic lunch and a catering for five and twenty. It took a little bit, but I think I got it done faster than anyone else could've, and then afterward started on getting the BBQ for 250 people ready, which involved sliced tomatoes, pickles, onions, ketchup, mustard, relish, all that fun stuff. The BBQ prep took me up all the way to lunch pretty much, which led into getting started on the gala.
I was getting pretty frustrated as it felt like I was the only one aware of the fact that we had a gala, and no one was really doing anything that seem to make any kind of logical sense.
I ended up doing all the hor's except california rolls, which were chicken satays, beef satays, spanakopita, meatballs and potato and cheddar wrapped in bacon. Afterward, I did the cheese platters, fruit platters, crudite, and baked bries. I stayed a few minutes late due to random bullshit, but got on the bus and eagerly got home.
Once home, I made spaghetti for dinner, and had a coffee and twix for dessert, followed by some strawberries and raspberries. Afterward, I played Far Cry, finally finishing that god damn game.
Far Cry is a pretty bad game... below average. I wasn't sure what to expect going into it, but I knew that it had a bit of hype to the game, like... I knew people had liked it. It started out okay, it was a cool tropical, open-ish world, with apparently semi-intelligent AI, but it quickly grew into this super on-rails, super annoying game. The AI knew where you are at all times, even if you are hiding in a bush, a sniper or even something as stupid as a rocket launcher from the other side of the map, like.. out of your view, could shoot at you and hit you with pin point accuracy. That, on top of the annoying as hell checkpoint system (you can't ever save it manually, you just have to hit check points and hope you had good health/ammo and weren't in a shitty situation.) The guns were pretty good, they at least felt different to use, and there was quite a variety, but the system for switching and obtaining guns was pretty bad, and annoying as hell to drop weapons and pick up new ones. The story was laughable, and most of the game was pretty boring. I don't regret playing through the game, because an experience is an experience, but I dunno, with so many good games out there waiting to be played, I think it's safe to pass on this one until you are desperate for a linear, frustrating, single player FPS.
I work tomorrow from 8am to 6pm, so the day will suck a lot I'm sure. The main thing I'll be doing all night is getting the wedding ready, and then going home a half an hour before it starts, so I guess it could be worse... as long as I don't get a headache and I'm not starving, the day can be okay.
Sunday I work 7am to something... something late. Probably will be working until after dinner, which will be 8pm or later, so that will be a brutally long day. To repay me for that ass rape of a day, I'm getting three days off next week, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, so... yeah that's probably good right? I won't go crazy right? Maybe have a chance to finally think and breathe, figure shit out... or I will explode in an insane spray of blood and frustration.
Guess that's it for now really... just gonna finish my snack of pizza and then watch the daily show and colbert report and go to sleep.
