long story... long

I suppose the adventure really began Saturday night... my sober Saturdaynight mind you... but it was late into the evening, Steve had a few drinks in him and he came over to me and said, "I'm this *motions with fingers* close to taking tomorrow off and driving up to Toronto." Of course he was talking about driving himself, myself and Cam up to the Birthday Massacre show, which both Cam and I had proposed to him a week or two earlier, but he claimed he could in no way take off the day work, but here he was, a day before the show, and he's considering it now. I was filled with glee but not entirely hopeful, as he said he wasn't completely sure about it yet. When I got home from the bar that night (and I wrote my entry about being sober), I was talking to him on MSN, and at that point he told me we were "definitley" going tomorrow and told me to be ready to go around 2pm or so and I clapped. Now that leads me to the next day; the Sunday...

Sunday I woke up around 12:30pm... Michelle had left at like, 5:30 or something, and Linzie was still kicknig around, playing Resident Evil 4; beating the chainsaw ladies but dying after to an axe throwing bastard haha, poor Linzie and her inability to get passed that part. Anyway, Linzie took off around 1:45pm and that prompted me to, ya know.. get dressed.. which I did, and then I grabbed my purse and headed out the door to the dissent, where Cam and I were meeting Steve. I grabbed some lunch beforehand, and ran into Linzie in the process, so I quickly said hello like a giant loser, and got my food and headed back in the opposite direction to dissent. Cam showed up about two minutes after I sat down at the gate and he made fun of the fact that I have no money but pretty much every time he sees me I'm chowing down on McDonalds; I assure you Cam, I'm quite the poor bastard (see below). Anyway, after consuming my meal, and Cam grabbing some water from within the depths of the bar, Steve showed up across the street in his white luxiury vehicle, and we crossed and hopped in. I sat in the back (more comfortable imho) and Cam got shotgun and Steve... guess?? *pauses* drove! We listened to MSI as we drove towards the highway, passing Grey ST. and... Mark *tear* we eventually got to the highway and with that... the music changed?

this is my bank account balance and credit card stuff. enjo!

We got on the highway and soon afterwards The Faint came on (Wet From Birth) and we listened to that the entire way to Toronto I believe. We stopped at the first reststop on the way, as per Cam's request, to get some food (since they didn't eat before leaving like I did) and both Steve and Cam got Wendys, and I broke down and got a Frosty because it had been years since I had one. We ate there at the restaurant, Steve had his chicken burger WITH onions for some reason, and Cam had his number 1 with baked potato, while I consumed my ice cream... we all watched a small bird bathe in dirt... it was amusing. It was all like, "look at me! I'm batheing in dirt! woo!".. or something.. yeah. We got back on the road after grabbing a couple coffees and heading to the car.

The rest of the ride to Toronto was pretty uneventful... we just talked about music, the bar, stuff of various stuffs and stuff. I just chillaxed in the back, played Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories a bit and looked out the window. It was actually a pretty calming and relaxing trip; just listening to them talk and stuff, I didn't really have to think, or do anything, so there was no pressure, no anything... very enjoyable. Steve seemed to know where he was going, so that was nice as well... I don't really know for sure how long it took us to get to the city but it didn't really seem all that long, so that was sexcellent. Steve drove us in, found a place to park -- which was mysteriously close to the club -- and we had arrived!

We started by heading for Metropolis Records (I think that's what it was called) where we looked at a bunch of CD's and records for a half hour or so. Steve bought a couple CDs while there (Ms Kittin?) and Cam looked for a while for something to buy but ended up not finding anything he liked, and of course, I had no money so I was just browsing hehe. Looking around at the store wasted enough time for us to make our way back to the parking lot where Steve paid another few bucks to get all night parking, and then we wondered where the club was... then Cam looked right across the street and said, "Oh... there it is." I had no idea it was so close to this seemlingly random parking lot we had drove into. We walked across the street and said Cam said Hi to some people he knew, and eventually we made our way to the back of the line. It was weird standing there... Cam and I talked about how lucky we are here in London, and more specifically at dissent how generally speaking our crowd is pretty attractive, and you'd think since Toronto is much bigger city with more 'culture' i guess, well.. you probably know where I'm going. DAYAM there were some gross lookin' stuff. A pink haired behemoth kept appearing throughout the entire night, as if smelling the fear on us and wanting to eat it, with a side of fries. Now I'm not saying that I'm attractive, not at all... most often I feel very UNattractive, but the difference is, I wore a pair of comfortable fit cords, and a t-shirt. I did NOT wear clothing so tight it looked like the fat was trying to escape from its overlord, through any crack and crevice of the immitation leather. But also, there were a few very cute girls whom I was too shy to even make eye contact with, but as Steve pointed out, the one I thought was the cutest wasn't wearing a drinking bracelette so she was probably underage haha! never stopped me!

The bands... The bands were great! New Love Army were... strange. I don't know for sure, but I think the fact that the singer was wearing a crocidile dundee hat wrecked their set for me. They weren't terrible, but they really didn't stand out to me at all. I don't really remember how long their set was, or what... all I remember is that they had a screen with a drummer on it, via video. I'm fairly certain it was just the singer without his hat on. After the set was over, the hat grew legs and murdered the band. the end. Tepid Lust were actually pretty good, and surprised me since I didn't really have any expectations since I had never heard them before (at least not that I know of) and the vocals were excellent, very cool backtracks and electronic sounds, and although I sat through it and really couldn't see the band, so I don't know how their stage presence was like, I was impressed with their sound... I clapped *claps*. Of course Lye went on, who are quickly becoming one of my favoritest bands, and to be honest, I didn't really like Aphasia's music that much, I found it bland and a little... detatched? Like I couldn't connect to it, but Brett has always been cool, as is everyone else, so I think I liked their music by default, haha, but anyway, Lye have just gotten better and better with each performance. They are fucking rock and fucking roll. They are much more aggressive, much more emotion in Bretts singing and just fucking kickass. I'm proud to wear my Lye shirt (which I somewhat shrunk even more in the wash) and I can't wait to get their CD when it comes out soon! Eep! One of my favorite bands. After Lye, and after Brett raffled off some merchandise, I went over and talked to Owen for a bit, just said Hi, how are you and what have you. I always get sad when I see him because it makes me miss my life from when I was in highschool, how simple it was, how my biggest concern was like... what episode of Zim or Family Guy to watch at Owens for lunch, and how everything is so much more complicated now. I hate that people change... I always have hated that fact of life; it really fucks me up. Of course it was really nice to see him though, since it doesn't happen that often (pretty much only when he visits London, he manages to stop by and say hi) and soon after saying hi, he was whisked away by.. someone! dun dun dun. Alright, let's get back to bands: When The Birthday Massacre went on, Cam was backstage getting loaded (haha 2 beers! oh Cam, that's cute!) and Steve and I stood beside the stage, rather than in front of it, so we basically heard the show through the monitors. They put on a wonderful show in my opinion, lots of energy, catchy tunes, great stage presence and well, they made me like them even more than I already do. Also, I thought Chibi look great... I didn't remember her being so damn cute. That's the first time where being drunk resulted in me finding someone less attractive, and being sober made them hotter.. haha, that's so backwards! Basically they kicked some fucking ass, as did Lye. Period.

After the show I waited to try and talk to Owen but he was swarmed by Asian girls getting his autograph and I didn't want to run up to him and be like, zomgzomgzomg o-en im such a fan will you sign my lungs!?!1nine!! so I just waved and yelled something and Cam, Steve and I were out the door. I remember sitting outside the club with Steve while we caught some air and drank some juice... I remember talking to him about how I wish I would run into my exgirlfriend while I was here, and how that would make me happy (we were, in fact, just a block away from a bar/club she mentioned she went to all the time), but it wouldn't make me happy in an evil kind way, but happy in a.. maybe I could get a kiss goodbye and have some kind of closure, or at least just hug her and see a smile. I guess I got sad for a second while I thought of those things... but I had to expect as much coming to Toronto; unrealsitic hopes eh? oh well... it's what I've always been about. When we got out, we all decided it was time for food, and Steve and Cam were telling me about a great pizza place that would make me explode in my pants, so Steve agreed to pay for my dinner (I'll pay you back Steve) and we each got slices of pizza. I got some mushroom... thingy.. kinda piece that had tons of spices, redish purple things and black stuff on it.. it was alright but it definitley could have used tomato sauce under the cheese... it was lacking in that department, therefore making it very dry to eat. My second slice was a cheese and spice thingy cheese thing. It was awesome as well, and very tomatoey, which I enjoyed thourougly in the car. We just sat in the parking lot, eating pizza and listening to the amazing Ms Kittin (at one point the pink haired behemoth walked by and almost crushed the car with her aura). After we all were full of pizza goodness, we started the car... well, Steve started the car and headed for the driveway... but.. it was the curb. Yes, to start our drive home, Steve drove right over the curb and sidewalk haha... Cam was all like, "thats a driveway, go that way" and Steve all like, "okay." and I was all like, "mmmm.. pizza.". .... yeah..

The ride home was enjoyable... We listened to Steve's new Ms. Kittin cd over and over again just on repeat, which rocked. I generally kept my eyes out of the window and stared at the stars... a specific set of stars actually, that I followed all the way home; no idea what stars or anything but who cares! What's in a name? hehe. Cam told us some funny stories about a horrid booking agent who know books TBM, Imperitive Reaction and VNV Nation, and his dealings with her. It basically ended in him saying, "Gonna hafta choke a bitch." now picture Cam screaming that angrily. HAH! Other than a few random stories, it was a pretty quiet uneventful trip home. We were just on the edge of town, just about at the Welcome to London sign or so, and it was about 1:45 when Cam's cellphone went off for the first time that day. He picked it up... silence... a bit more silence, then Cam yelled, "WHAT!?" really loud. I automatically assumed his apartment was robbed or something. I remember saying to Steve, "I'm sure we'll get a story after this call." and I was kind of right. After a bit more confused and bewildered screaming, Cam hung up the phone and stared ahead for a bit. "Uhh.. Cam?" Cam's response, "That was James. You know Geoffs Tailgate Hairmetal night? The bar is at capacity... they're turning people away! People can't even get on the dancefloor because it's so full!" We were all stunned, which then broke out into laughing in astonishment. We all became instantly excited and hyped up... Steve started speeding through the city to get to the bar before everyone left (because at this point it was already last call). The rest of the ride consisted of each of us taking turns going, "WHAT? ZOMG!" as we made our way there. We parked around the corner, got out and walked towards the bar where there was a large crowd outside, music pumpin. We all walked downstairs and I ran to the DJ booth to find Geoff with his hairmetal wig, motley crue headband, skid row sleevless shirt and skin tight pants, smile from ear to ear, throwing up the horns looking happier than anyone has ever looked. It was great to see everyone so happy, especially Matt, who was very enthusiastic about how they ran out of the beer and stuff, everyone was just so excited. Steve and I walked around for a bit saying hi to everyone, but since I had to work the next day, we both decided to call it a night and be off. The walk home went quick, and soon enough I was in my bed!

So that was my exciting day. I'll write about the Thor show, or at least mention it, later on, probably tomorrow at work. I've run out of steam and can't write anymore right now. I'm gonna head to bed and get some rest. Peace out!
