Pre-Birthday Special
Today wasn't so bad, for various reasons... it was a pretty good day, I didn't get a headache, I wasn't too tired, work wasn't too stressful, and I played a bunch of games after work, leading to a nice bath and now I'm watching Jimmy Fallon.
I could just end it there, but that would be a pretty boring entry to read, so I guess I'll stretch it out a bit.
I woke up and had toast and coffee, typical zombie morning, everything kind of happens through instinct. I got ready and left for work, listened to... Korn for some reason on the way to work. Once I got to work, we had a continental breakfast, so got that out of the way, and then we had two picnic lunches (twelve and fourteen people)... sandwiches, mixed greens salad, relish tray, cookies, fruit tray, etc, etc... that actually took quite awhile, and then we also had a hot business lunch, which is three salads, fruit, two hot entrees, blah blah blah, work, work, work... all that crap took me to around Noon or shortly after.
There was some random bullshit in the cafe, with three cooks on line and I was asked to do pasta bar (there is only ever two on line, and usually one stays on line and the second does pasta bar, so having four cooks in the cafe was completely messed up). I was like... rofl is this real life? So confused... but whatever, it wasted some of my time, went back over and cleaned up random crap.
For pretty much the rest of my shift, I prepped the veg for veg bundles, and then spent a bunch of time finishing them (eighty of them).
Once I got home, I was really hungry, so I quickly decided to make the rest of the ground beef in my fridge into yummy burgers, and I had potato wedges with it. As per usual, I watched Star Trek: TNG with dinner, and had coffee and a coffee crisp for dessert.
After dinner, I played Phantom Brave... yes, the game that has been enraging me lately, but I'm obsessed... no... committed to playing this game. I sat down, convinced that I wouldn't get worked up, take it slow, just relax and enjoy playing the game. I played a safer dungeon, I laid back and put my feet up, and played through the dungeon, I exited when I felt I was in danger of losing, and I managed to make a ton of money (in-game) and got a few levels, and completed a few levels of the story. It felt great!
After enjoying some Phantom Brave, I played an level of FarCry on the PC, and a level of Brothers in Arms, and then completed a mini-game in Plants vs. Zombies. After enjoying those games, I sat down and completed a chapter of Uncharted 2, and then decided to play a bit more Phantom Brave, trying a bit more of a risky dungeon, to get a few levels, which I did successfully, just leaving before it got dangerous, you know... controlling my greed or whatever. I also completed the episode I was working on, and then ran a bath.
After my bath, I turned on Jimmy Fallon, and started writing, as I always do.
It's my birthday tomorrow, and as much as I or others may resist it, it will always feel like a special day, and so I hope that I have a good day, and I hope that I feel good, and that people make me feel happy and liked. I have a somewhat mixed history involving my birthday, a few good ones, a few terrible ones, but I'd like to think that the terrible ones are all behind me.
Obviously I don't have anything planned for my birthday, as I work tomorrow, and will most likely be tired, come home, eat a frozen lasagna and go to bed early, because I open on Sunday at 7am, so I can't stay up or do anything, but that's not exactly unexpected, and even if I had the day off, or the week off for that matter, I would probably still stay in and just be by myself because that's what I do to feel comfortable and happy, so... I'm okay with it I think. As long as I get birthday wishes from a few people that matter, all will be well.
I guess that's all I've got to write about for now... Work tomorrow should be... well, it could be anything, but no matter what I'm going to try my best not to let it get me down. I know there is a hot breakfast for 51 first thing... We have a big BBQ lunch, but I believe we have enough staff in to actually handle that without issue, and I believe there is a pizza lunch, and then there is a wedding at night, so even though it's a busy day, I'm going to come in, work, and then try to leave after 8 hours. I have no end time on my schedule, but I work at 7am the next day, and it's my birthday, so fuck them, there's gotta be serious shit hitting the fan if I have to stay late.
Here's hoping tomorrow is a good day for me, and I'll let you all know how my day went.
