Time Flies When You're Melting

Work was actually okay today, which is funny considering it's a kitchen and today is one of the hottest days on record. Today it was 40 out, feels like 50... yeah, that's pretty hot. Add the fact that I'm in a kitchen for eight hours or more, and you get a hot situation. Thankfully, I didn't really feel the effects of the heat too badly today, and the time seemed to go by pretty quickly.

It wasn't that work was slow, in fact there were four lunch events going on, which added with pasta bar for the cafe and all that, can be a bit stressful, add in the fact that we have less than pleasent people working for us at times, it can create an annoying and counter productive day. Somehow I managed to avoid almost all of that today, and just got my work done fast and quickly, spent the afternoon prepping salads for the next few days and before I knew it it was time to go.

I got home from work quickly, as Mark was just leaving work as I was walking down the road, and he stopped and picked me up. So I got home quickly... which is nice. A couple days ago I got Kyle to pick me up a full beef tenderloin from costoco, cause he was there and sent me a pic, so I mean, that's like an obligation to get it. You don't just take pictures of meat and then not deliver it to a house in a coors light cooler bag. Anyway, I had a beef tenderloin chillin out in the fridge, and today was my first chance to eat it, so I knew I had to clean it, ie. take all the fat and silverskin off, and then cut it into steaks. So I took the time to clean it, and then ran a semi-cold shower, to which felt great. I needed to cool down, and the majority of the dinner making was done, so it was a good chance to rinse off and feel clean after my day of work.

After the shower, I finished up dinner, watched Fringe while eating, and eventually just programmed a bit, as it felt too hot to do anything else.

Fringe, which is a set blurays I bought recently, has been freezing and skipping a lot, and it's really pissing me off. It'll get into the episode and then just completely freeze my ps3... kind of retarded. Maybe the disks were defective and that's why it was on sale, but whatever it is, it's annoying as hell.

In somewhat related news, Conan O'brien used to be funny, but something happened along the way where he's just... not that funny anymore. It's not that I don't like the guy, or that I don't watch the show, I still record each show and generally watch one or two a week, but his opening monologue is so stale and not funny, it's almost embarrasing. Maybe it's that I'm spoiled by the energy of Jimmy Fallon but Conan seems out of touch and like he's trying too hard. It's kind of like he's a cartoon parody of himself... it's weird. I dunno what's going on there.

Work tomorrow should be really easy, and while I may be jinxing it, I can't see how the day could turn retarded. I'm in 7am to 3pm, and the only thing going on (besides normal cafe business) is a dinner at night, at 7pm, which is a buffet, which I could have done and ready by 9am, so... it should be a good day? I might be able to get a lot of Saturday's stuff done, which will make Saturday suck less too!

So yes, it's super and ungodly hot, and it's sticky and sweaty and uncomfortable, but I dunno... things could be worse I guess.
