Behind

Okay, so I could try to go back in my mind and remember what I did during the last few days, but I feel like that wouldn't be fun, and wouldn't serve much a purpose. I beat Mass Effect, and had a couple days off, read a lot of The Hunger Games, and overall enjoyed myself.

Today I had to open at work, 7am to 3pm, and it was a slow Saturday, a bunch of us were in to get tomorrow ready, because there was nothing happening today, and 270 people in for Easter brunch tomorrow. I woke up at 6:15am and had coffee waiting, had some toast (somewhat gross toasted white wonder bread... not really my thing - great for sandwiches, not great for toast). I called a cab and went to work.

Work was easy, handling breakfast without really having to try, and by 9am, the rest of the guys showed up and we just started getting stuff ready for tomorrow. We finished early - I finished at 2pm and waiting around out back until 3pm to get a ride home with Jon.

Once home, I had a quick sandwich and then Bekki and I started to drink beer and work on the yard. It felt great... it was warm in the sun and the beer tasted wonderful. We finally picked up the last pile of leaves into bags, and then Bekki cleaned the corner of the yard that had the composter, washed it, and set it up somewhere so we could start using it. I weeded between all the patio stones or whatever you want to call them, getting rid of all the weeds and grass so it looks clean and good now.

My hands hurt from scraping my finger on the cement while I used a screwdriver to remove the weeds. My legs and shoulders hurt from my days work plus my time kneeling outside.

We ordered pizza for dinner, spending $15 for two small pizzas. It was really good, really nice to treat ourselves and not have to cook. We watched Cash Cab and ate, eating until our stomaches exploded everywhere. Afterward, I read a chapter of the Hunger Games (I'm just about finished, just a few pages left) and then ran a bath. Soaking my body felt good. The hot water hurt my hands most of all, but it was almost a relief, a feeling of cleansing, a feeling of soaking and relaxation. I couldn't get all the dirt off, it seems to be stuck on my one finger where it kept scraping into the cement. Ah well...

After my bath, I played Mass Effect 2 for awhile, and it's exponentially better than the first game, the first being a game I didn't enjoy that much. This second installment in the series makes the combat fun, engaging and satisfying. It makes the enivroments feel real, lived in, atmospheric, well made. I look forward to playing it more, but it won't be tonight, because I have to open in the morning.

After I played ME2 for awhile, I took a sleeping pill and decided to write. I drank a glass of water very quickly, as I was quite dehydrated from the beer and physical activity I participated in earlier, and soon I will be winding down for the night with an episode or two of Funny as Hell, one of my favorite shows to watch recently. It's basically HBO Stand up comedy hosted by TV's Jon Dore.

Tomorrow is super busy, 270 people for brunch, but there are a lot of people in, and we got everything ready today, so I'm not sure if I should be nervous or just relaxed... I know that I'll go in nervous though, I just can't seem to help it. I have Monday off, so I just need to survive tomorrow, and I can have a relaxing day to either work in the yard more (if it's nice out), read more, play more ME2, and... well, all that fun shit.
