Up Early

I'm up early again today... let me quickly recap my sleep for the last two days.

Friday night I slept for 6 to 8 hours, and woke up at 8am; I had taken a sleeping pill that night. Saturday at 1pm I laid down and slept until 10pm, unassisted. Saturday at 3:30am I laid down and slept until 7:30am.

Huh? Yeah...

I spent the time since I've been up (an hour) getting the fourth badge and hitting the 50 hour mark in Pokemon Pearl. I'm happy to say that the game is still brilliant, even though due to my super insane crazy unmanageable sleep patterns lately I haven't been playing it as much as I did the first two or three days. When you sleep 20 hours of the day, actually doing anything can be a problem.

I can only assume that the strange tiredness will hit me again today, but I have plans to go to Darcy's and party it up Mario style, so even if I do get super tired, I can't nap like I have been, which I really hope is exactly what I need to snap out of this cycle. If I can't nap, I'll be really tired at night, which means I should sleep really late and get up normally and get back to normal. I'm really looking forward to this afternoon/evening, Darcy, Ally, Michelle and myself, snacks/supper ala Ally (and I'll probably bring something as well), Mario Party 2 (and anything else I think will be fun.. we might just play a really long game of MP2) and.. I think that's it. Fun!

I have the curtains open and it's nice and bright and the sun is shining in. It' s a very rare thing... the sun only shines in the window between 8am and 9am, and I'm rarely up or have the curtains up to see it, and it really makes you feel alive. Proof of the sunshine is on the left!

So I've got to keep myself awake and active and happy today so that I can enjoy myself and feel good. I'm going to have a salmon sandwich for lunch and probably watch some Scrubs, maybe peel myself away from Pokemon to play some console games (Splinter Cell: Double Agent, Virtua Fighter, Ghost Recon, Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal). I haven't sat down and played a game other than Pokemon in a week, and that's soooo weird.

I finally took one of the copies of Spectrobes out of the shrinkwrap because I was going to read the instruction manual while I was in a bath but I ended up not reading it because for one, I usually think I want to read while in a bath, but then I get in and it's hot and I don't wanna read, I just wanna sink under the water... and secondly, I didn't want to start wanting to play the game. I don't want to be distracted away from Pokemon, especially by a game that's basically a poor mans Pokemon. I'll play it after I'm done Pokemon, and I know it's going to be a pretty good game, but I don't want to get excited for it now, because it will distract me and take away from my overall Pokemon experience, and I'm so not down with that.

Speaking of DS games, I'm quite happy with the DS now. I was never that hot for the Nintendo DS. I've bought one about 9 to 12 months after it was released, started off with Mario 64 DS, Advance Wars DS and Nintendogs, and while I enjoyed the games, Mario 64 was a port, Advance Wars was a GBA game with touch screen tacked on and Nintendogs was a tech demo, so while I had fun with the DS, and appreciated it, it never stood out as a gaming system and you could always point to console games that could do things better. Even the newer games like Mario Kart DS, New Super Mario Bros and Final Fantasy 3 were an improvement, but I still always thought to myself, "I wish I could be playing this on a TV" instead of enjoying it as a DS game. Recently however, especially with Elite Beat Agents and now Pokemon, I now see the DS as this unique gaming experience that has unimaginably fun games that are completely exclusive to the DS. Elite Beat Agents can only be played on the DS and it's one of my favorite games ever. Pokemon is one of the most addictive RPGs ever and now the DS is a somewhere you could go to play a 100+ hour RPG... the DS now has a very strong place in my gaming heart.

We watched a couple episodes of Criminal Minds for the first time since mid-January and it was enjoyable. I downloaded a couple episodes I was missing, and I'm currently downloading any episodes of CSI and CSI: Miami that I'm missing, as well as 12 episodes of Ugly Betty for Ally.

I'm looking forward to lunch but it's still a few hours till then, so I guess I should find something to do... maybe I'll play Pokemon...

I'm oh so glad the weekend was amazing! I'm glad you got some good sleep and that we had a relaxing gaming day yesterday.

Mario Party and tacos were awesome too!

Hopefully next weekend is just as good!
