Ghost Life
This movie is depressing me and making me angry for some reason.
I had a sick day today, I didn't go to school and I didn't have to go work because Julie and Jon felt bad and called me to let me know they could cover what needed to be covered and I could stay home, which was awesome.
I spent the majority of the day writing a script to collect and download all of Ze Franks episodes of The Show, his podcast that he ran from March 2006 to March 2007. Basically, the videos are available on his website. Each video is on it's own page, with a link to the next episode at the top. You can't directly download the video, and you can't see the file from the source, however... from the source you can see that the flash video window redirects to another URL, and from that URL a file source is specified. So, I wrote a script that goes to the page, opens the contents of the redirection, extracts the URL to the real video from that, starts downloading it, then inspects the original source for the link to the next page, and automatically redirects the page to that new page and starts the process over again, starting the download of the video, and moving to the next page, page after page until there are no more videos. The process worked, and it cycled through downloading 246 videos.
After downloading the files, they were in FLV format, which is flash player, so I used Handbrake to convert them all to m4v, which is the file format used by iTunes and iPhones/iPods, so now they're all imported into iTunes and I can put them on my phone if I wanted to. I spent a lot of the day working on this, and a lot of the day watching episodes as I worked.
I also updated my iPhone to iOS 5, which introduces a lot of neat new features, so that's... uhh.. fun.
School tomorrow sadly, and then another day off from work to recover, so hopefully I don't cough or have a runny nose while at school.
I don't really feel like writing right now, I feel weird... maybe it's the medication, I don't know. Anyway, maybe I'll write more tomorrow.
