Welcome Home
It's felt like a pretty busy week, time flies and lots of things to do. It never quite really feels like there is a time to be at rest. I had things to write in mine throughout the day or few days, but now it's all gone and I don't know what to write about.
I've been spending a bit of time working on a cellar tracking application that will essentially catalogue all the wine you have, with all the details on it. You will then be able to sort, search and view statistics, as well as review and leave notes on the wine. I've been listening to a lot of the wine podcast I listen to (Two Guys Talking Wine), and this has got me excited about wines, which means I've been buying some wines they talk about or that they get me interested in, and get excited about our collection, etc. So it's all kind of like an echo chamber of fun, which can be considered good or bad, I don't really know.
Tonight Bekki and I finished an almost finished bottle of Creekside Syrah and then much later finished a bottle of Meldville Syrah Rosé. Both were good in their own ways. The Creekside Syrah is an entry level Syrah with typical notes. I've recently decided to be more open to affordable, drinkable reds instead of only collecting special occasion and cellar red wine. This was one such attempt, having enjoyed Creeksides larger reds before. The Syrah Rosé was also interesting, as it really opened up over earlier in the week when we first opened it. I enjoyed it even more, and found it excellently layered and complex, something you don't often see in a Rosé.
After bed time tonight (which was significantly late... 9:15pm), I played a bit of Dark Souls 2, and now I'm watching TNG and writing this.
Tomorrow is a birthday gathering for me at Bekki's parents with the kids, for pizza and cake, and then Saturday is my brithday. Don't really have plans beyond having a very nice beef dinner with a very special bottle of wine from the cellar. I'm leaning towards opening a 2010 Exclamation Gold Merlot.
