Eternal Sunshine

I downloaded the Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind DVD last night and watched it (while Michelle, Jess and Emily slept) and I was thoroughly impressed, so much so that I'm watching it again as I write this.

I think the movie captured perfectly the idea and portrayal of a meaningful relationship. How their relationship started out great and slowly degraded until they couldn't stand each other any longer, and it ended. When it ended they're immediate reaction was, "agh! that was horrible I want to erase that entire part of my life from my memory!" but eventually they realized, and was shown at the end of the film, that regardless of knowing that the relationship was going to end, they decided that they would still enter the relationship, for no other reason than making those good memories.

All of life can be seen in that way. It's not about where you get, it's about the memories you make getting there.

Remember that... or you may end up having wasted your life trying to get somewhere, to realize that you're life is over.
