They Stole The Love From Us

I've been playing three games, about equally the last few days. I haven't gotten far enough into any of them to write an official review, but I can give a quick rundown of what I think so far...

Morrowind is a great single player PC game, in which you are mysteriously pardoned and freed from a prison boat, and set to start a new life in an unknown town, surrounded by unknown people. The Imperial Officer which oversaw your pardon offers you a bit of work, but other than that, you are free to live your life in this virtual life. The thing that appeals to me about this idea, is that everything you do... break the law, help someone, do a quest and so on, all of it changes the world around you in very significant ways, and you actually feel like you make a difference, it really really helps you get into the role of this character and start roleplaying.. which ironically, not many roleplaying games let you do. You're free to be evil, or to be a goody goody, to steal from shops or mug strangers, or fight of monsters and find missing items for townsfolk. People will start to hear things about you, whether be good or bad, so the decisions you make completely change the game. The idea is what sold me on the game, and it's going to be what keeps me playing. Once I get a bit further into my roleplaying adventure, I'll write up a review that includes more gameplay, techincal information and how the game stands over time.

Final Fantasy Tactics is a very difficult game. I don't mean annoying, stupidly hard, I mean, this game takes thought, skill and deep strategy. You can't just wing it and wonder why the enemies bent you over and raped you. As you all should I know, I played through Final Fantasy Tactics Advance for GBA before even touching this game, so going a step backwards I thought perhaps it wouldn't be as fun, but from what I can tell so far, it's going to be just as much fun, but in a different way. The game offers a much more serious storyline than Advance, deeply involving the church and state, and obviously wars, chocobos and black mages! What Tactics has that Advance didn't though, is an extremely large learning curve, and emense difficulty. Advance held your hand through the entire game... you could move your unit, and if the attack didn't line up the way you liked, you could just cancel the move and try something else, but in Tactics, once you move, you're there and you can't go back, so if you move quickly without thinking (which I'll admit to doing in Advance) and you find out a tree is blocking your line of fire, you're fucked for a turn and trust me, no action for a turn makes a terrible differencec in battle. So, right now the game has immense potential, I just need to get used to the difficulty of the game, and stop thinking of it like Advance and take it for what it is and try to get good at it. Again, a more complete review will come in a week or two when I get furthur into it... remember, Tactics Advance lasted me over 100 hours before I could break my addiction, and I heard that this game is no different in that sense.

Breath of Fire 3 is... an rpg. I think the only reason I'm giving it a chance is because of how much I've enjoyed the rest of the series. The game features questionable graphics, and... what seems to be chrono trigger music, but features a Breath of Fire story and gameplay experience. It's entertaining me quite a bit, and I'll write up a good review for it soon, probably before the other two games.

For some reason I feel like shit right now. I think it's cause my computer keeps just turning off (my desktop) and for some reason all I can smell is pee. Hopefully it's from the cats and I didn't accidentally soil myself.
