Tired and Gone

Today was a brutal and tiring day, that's left me feeling completely useless, sore, tired and exausted. I'm sure I could think of more descriptive words if I wasn't so god damn tired. I worked for 12.75 hours today, which was expected, as I had agreed to it before hand, but it doesn't make it less tiring, and it doesn't make it suck less, so please, just let me complain, because maybe it'll make me feel a bit better.

I opened this morning, which means I woke up at 6:15am and had breakfast, and called a cab to take me to work for 7am. The entire morning was pretty much spent trying to keep up with the continental buffet, which the night before I was told would be for 30 people, and five minutes before it went out, the uhh... helpful woman told me it was actually fo 100 people... quite a bit different. I was alone, from 7am to 10am, continental goes from 8am to 10am, and brunch starts at 10am, which means that I had to do the entire contintental and all of the brunch food all by myself, and when you are replenishing a buffet for 100 people, it leaves very little time to do anything at all. I tried not to get frustrated and it worked out okay, I managed to get almost everything done... the only thing that went out late was the croquembouche, and that's retarded anyway, so it works out. At about 9:30 or 9:45, Mark showed up a bit early and I asked him to start right away, to make hollendaise, as it takes time and is an important part of brunch.

After brunch was out, it was a pretty much non-stop job of replenishing the food... I also had to make a bunch of sandwiches, which I somehow found time to do, and from about 10am to 2pm, it was non-stop running back and forth between the main kitchen and the cafe, but... the annoying and/or frustrating part is that we had a wedding for 106 people and it was 2pm and we hadn't even started yet. At this point I was already getting a headache, and I was getting tired... not good. I spent from 2pm to 6pm getting the wedding ready. I made the kiwi nut salads, and plated the cheesecakes, aaaand yeah, probably other stuff.

Julie drove me home after the plating, and I don't really remember anything after that. I know I got home, but like... I don't remember anything after that. I think I fell asleep on the couch, but I don't remember going to the couch. I woke up at 8:45pm or so, and decided to watch True Blood, which I did, as I had a snack. Afterward, I ran a bath, and felt like writing. I turned on Piranha 3-D, a terrible movie that's basically just softcore porn, and took a sleeping pill, which I probably didn't need to do, as I was so tired, but last night I didn't take one and it took me over and hour of tossing and turning to fall asleep.

I'll be going to sleep soon... probably not finishing this movie, and tomorrow begins my three days off this week, so it should be pretty cool.
