First Day At Work

So today was my first day working at Pizza Hut. It went well.. I think. According to Lindy and another coworker, I did very very well, but I never really got the feeling that I was doing super or anything, just sorta dragging myself along as expected. Anyway...

My manager is a guy named Rob. He's a young guy.. he seems too young to be a general manager but ya know, whatever. He's a nice guy, always joking around, very relaxed.. so that makes it easy when you're being trained. You don't have to worry about some old stuck up guy screaming or putting you down if you fuck up. If I fucked up or did something wrong he'd just kinda smile and let me know in a 'joking around' kinda way.

I had to do some written work for about an hour or two at first. I had to read a whole shit load of crap on safety and rules and all that and then fill out some questions on it. That wasn't the most exciting thing in the world. Also, my nose was running that entire time, so it was really hard to concentrate.

I learned how to prepare and cook the following:
  • Breadsticks
  • Garlic Bread
  • Caesar Salad
  • Chicken Wings
  • It's hard remembering everything after only being told or shown once... like how many sticks are in a small breadsticks order... or what pans I use if it's a large order of garlic bread, or what box do the chicken wings go in... and everything.. it's just a lot to remember and at times I felt like I was expected to remember everything which made me really nervous. I wasn't sure what was expected of me... I got really shakey and weak in the knees... hopefully that will pass.. I just told myself to calm down and not be nervous.. didn't work very well.

When my boss left, Lindy (my trainer from now on) asked me if I wanted my staff meal (a personal pizza.. haha, yeah right) so I said sure, and she told me that it'd be a medium cause Linzie was waiting for me at home and I was hungry and all and then she asked me if I wanted to make it. Rob told me that I wouldn't be making pizza for another one or two shifts because he wanted me to learn everything about making them before I actually made and cooked one... so this was.. dun dun dun, breaking the rules!! Anyway, I made myself a medium pizza with mushrooms and cheese and did a very good job if I do say so myself (yummy!) and while I was waiting I made two other pizzas for orders my sister took. Yay! It's pretty cool there because there are only two or three of us working and it seems like a very friendly, relaxed place. I have a feeling I'll get along with everyone, especially those I've already met.

I plan on making a program that keeps track of my hours. Sounds strange and pointless? Well, that pretty much describes my life, so why not work it into my programming!! Hehe, no, it's just to keep track of how many hours I've worked and how much money I've made so I can go back a year from now and be amazed at the amount of time I've spent there. It'll allow me to input the info on my print out, like the date, the ours worked, the job class and anything else I can think of, and then it'll add up the hours and display them as well as the total amount of money I've made. It'll also feature a list of all the specific days and hours I've worked upon request. If I do a good enough job making this thing, my sister even said she'd be interested in using it.

I worked for 3.90 hours today at only 6.85 an hour. Sounds like not a lot but it really isn't a difficult job and I'm not very greedy. Whatever, blah. I had to take a lot of notes while being trained today at work and they're very unorganized notes, so I plan on reorganizing them and putting them on the computer, just so Ic an remember them better. So there is a very large chance that I'm going to put them on this site.. my notes. Is that illegal? I dunno.. who cares! So you may notice a Pizza Hut section pop up one day... it isn't really for you guys, but for me, so I can learn easier. So, just letting you know so you aren't confused as to why there are notes on how to make breadsticks on my website.

Linzie was really sweet today... in the halls at school she ran and hugged me and it made me feel really good inside.. *smiles*. She was also really sweet and comforting and loving after I got home from work, which made me feel great after working and feeling nervous and everything. Things are going and have been going amazing with her for a very long time.

There seems to be a bit of confusion about something I said in my entry yesterday about the concert I went to. People seem to think that I thought or said that the concert sucked and that wasn't the case. I guess I didn't come across as clearly as I should have... the conert was great.. the bands were impressive but I was very... not in a good mood. I was sore, my lips were chapped to hell, so I was constantly licking and wetting them... my nose was running so I was sniffing.. my throat was sore and there was smoke all in my face.. it just was a horrible enviroment to be in for the mood that I was in and that affect how much I enjoyed the concert. The bands kicked ass.. Closet Monster and Ten Foot Pole were amazing and I would see them again without thinking twice.

I guess that's it for tonight, I hope you've enjoyed reading my somewhat long tale about my adventures at work. You probably won't see another entry this long for awhile!
