Project Blog Updates

Over the last few weeks I've added in a few minor tweaks and additions, nothing major, and probably nothing you'd notice, but it's about time I at least make an entry stating some (or most) of the updates (that I can remember).

  • [Backend] Improved the tracking and logging features associated with the search feature.
  • [Backend] Added a new feature which enhances the active user tracking, making it more effective.
  • [Backend] After adding an entry, you are automatically redirected to viewing the entry from your blog.
  • [Backend] Slight visual improvements.
  • Clicking on the Date of an entry will now show you every entry that's been posted on that day of the year (collected from all years).
  • Active Users now shows the names of the active users viewing the script (or script features.. forum, pile, phone or stats).
  • Some visual aspects have been tweaked (such as fonts).
  • Fixed in issue in Firefox:Mac that would cause the script to misinterpret line breaks and not include any.
  • Fixed an issue that would not preserve line breaks in code after adding an entry, thus when editing, it would all be one big chunk of code.
  • Introduced a new account access level you can assign to users. Called "Public", the new access level treats users with this level as public level (like they weren't logged in). This prevents them from seeing even Semi-Private (level 1) entries, even if they're logged in. This way they keep the ability to have an avatar, leave comments easily, and use the features, but the admin keeps all privacy.
  • Comments left by anonymous users now include the email address when showing the comment.
  • Quick stats and archives now accuratley display entry counts while taking into consideration the current users access level, for added privacy.
  • Added functionality for displaying entries exclusivly by hour, regardless of day, month or year. As of right now, there is no where on the site besides the stats that use this feature, but you can use it by manually passing the following variables to the script: '?func=hour&vhour=X ' where X is the hour you want to view (use 24 hour format). For example, ?func=hour&vhour=1
  • There is now a link at the bottom of the front page entitled Show All From This Month, which will show you all entries from the current month (by default the front page shows only the 15 most recent entries).
  • I've got a couple more ideas up my sleeve that I've yet to implement, but it's getting pretty complete, and coming up with ideas is getting harder and harder.

If you have any suggestions or comments that would make your viewing this site more enjoyable or easier, let me know right away.

I really like the 'Show all from this month' feature. :)
