No Sleeping Pills

Going for a month and a bit without internet probably isn't as bad as you'd imagine it to be, especially considering my sizable collection of media burned to DVD and stored on an external drive. Basically what it takes away from me is my ability to talk with the people I care about, and even then there are only two or three people who I miss communication with. I'm sure immediatley your mind would go to the endless browsing of the internet, but what it really comes down to is reading and writing blogs; writing on this site, and reading my few friends who have livejournals; really it only takes about ten to thirty minutes a day, and after that there isn't really anything else to do online.

Even though I went for more than a month without internet, I mysteriously didn't fall behind on TV shows, movies or music, thanks to Mark for the first two thirds, and my Mom in the last third. I managed to see all the Daily Show's and Colbert Reports, all the Lucky Louie's, and also got important new music releases (like Alexisonfire's Crisis) and new movies like Clerks 2.

So basically, the only thing I missed was being able to talk to my peeps, and occasionally missed being able to write on here, but not nearly as much as I had expected, but don't get me wrong, it's great to be back.

Having the time away from any form of civilization lead me back into consoles, specifically getting me back into playing Disgaea (over 250 hours now) and playing lots of Starfox: Assault, which I'm thankful I did, because only playing a bit of it wasn't very impressive, but playing it a ton got me to really like it.

Some of the things I did, basically my day to day things, are as follows... watched every episode of Mythbusters (three seasons, around 60 episodes) while playing Final Fantasy Tactics, watching both seasons of House MD (I love that show to death), watched season one of Charmed, watched season one of Criminal Minds, watched every Highlander, and the last Highlander movie... and listened to lots and lots of music, a large amount of Bright Eyes (Fevers and Mirrors is the greatest album, and Digital Ash is the second), Silverstein (Discovering the Waterfront is still one of my favorite albums), and various other bands (including The Faint, Underoath, Bullet For My Valentine, Aiden, Rise Against, Billy Talent, Alexisonfire, City and Colour and Joy Electric).

I don't have any sleeping pills left, and this is about the time I would take it, so instead I'm going to brush my teeth, put on the most recent episode of Mythbusters, and try to fall asleep.

I'll be online from now on, so expect daily entries, and responses to comments, emails and any other means of communication.
