Deliver Us

So I made a bit of a mistake last night, in that I had taken a sleeping pill and about five minutes later, I couldn't remember if I had taken one, so I took a second one, and yeah, taking two extra strength sleeping pills at midnight, when I have to wake up at 5:25am, is not a good idea.

I spent the first four or five hours of my day feeling very out of it. I felt like I hadn't gone to sleep yet, like the side effects of taking the pill hadn't had a chance to wear off. I felt far away, fuzzy... I couldn't concentrate or think, or organize my thoughts. It got better as the day went on, slowly returning to normal, although I did take a shot of espresso and had a coffee when I got there, but yeah, it was a pretty uncomfortable day really.

Luckily it wasn't that busy of a day really, we had the one breakfast that had hot food (eggs, hashbrowns, meat, french toast) and after that was out, we had three lunches, but one of them was cancelled almost right away, leaving only a BBQ with buffet salads and a networking lunch that only required minimal work. The first half of the day was spent getting those things ready, and the second half was a combination of running an endless number of things over to the cafe, attempting to replenish that BBQ event, and then trying to return to what I was mainly trying to do, make salads. I ended up making an asian noodle salad, a greek salad and a pasta salad, all in large amounts, so at least it was a start. I had planned on making a grilled vegetable salad, a mushroom salad and a potato salad, but time and ingredients kept me from getting to them sadly.

It took me about two hours to get home from work, due to terrible traffic and terrible busses. It was a very boring trip home, but I just listened to in flames and kind of floated in and out of sleep for most of it.

Once home, I had a quick snack before getting ready and biking to the grocery store for dinner food, which was stuff to make a nice fresh salad, since that's what I was in the mood for. I hadn't used a bike for a year or so, so it was kinda weird but riding a bike is like riding a bike, so it wasn't a problem. It was kind of nice to get there in like... two minutes. Although there are benifits to walking there, as I get to just kinda zone out and listen to the morning stream, but after work, I really just want to get there and get home. I bought some fresh mushrooms and fresh radishes, picked up some more mixed greens and oregano feta salad dressing, grabbed some eggs and bacon and stuff, stuff I wanted to have.

Once home, I ate my salad while watching the Shield, and had a Mars bar for dessert with my coffee. I went and worked on the Pandemic website... which isn't quite as easy as you may think. I'm using the same stuff I wrote for this very blog, but a lot of it was hard coded, so it only worked with my database and my features and stuff. Now, it's not all hardcoded, in fact the visual style of the site is 100% dynamic and easily changed, but certain things like connecting to the database to store and retrieve user accounts and entries was hardcoded in and in order for a new site to use these scripts, it would need to be able to be changed easily, so I spent a couple hours I guess, working on updating the classes... I broke my website, broke my games website, fixed them, broke them again, etc etc, until finally it worked. So with these improvements, it's now easy to transplant this system to another site. The next step is to customize it's look, by formatting the news posts and stuff, but that will come later... maybe tomorrow.

Yes, I have tomorrow off work again, one day on, one day off, one day on, one day off. I plan on watching the Shield a lot, and working on that visual formatting stuff, and maybe playing a few games. Right now, I'm just watching the Daily show and eating Mr. Noodles. Probably gonna head to bed soon cause I'm pretty exausted due to the whole sleeping pill incident.
