Fatal Familial Insomnia
The last couple days have been a strange challenge to function and stay awake... kind of an interesting experience. There was some fun, some misery, some tiredness.
Friday I did a bunch of school work all day, and eventually went to work for 5pm. Work was pretty simple, it was two plated dinners, straight forward, nothing weird, went well. I could tell that Julie wasn't feeling too great, she seemed sad, and it was the eve of her birthday (today being her birthday) so I asked her what she was doing for the night of her birthday, specifically around midnight, and she said nothing, so I informed her that she would be sitting at my house, having a drink or two, and celebrating midnight of her birthday watching SNL or Bored To Death.
We drove home together later that night, and ended up drinking quite a few, watching various tv shows, and around 11pm we ordered pizza, which because the mentally challenged pizza guy wrote Langarth E instead of Langarth W, we got for free. Yeah, we had to wait like... over an hour or whatever, but getting two medium pizzas and a 2L of Coke for nothing is pretty awesome. We continued to enjoy some beverages, listened to music on youtube, and before we knew it, it was already around 3am, and we both opened this morning, meaning we had to wake up at 6am. Julie decided to crash on the couch, so I got a couple blankets for her and a pillow, and we got ready for bed, but it wasn't until about 3:45am or so when I actually laid down and slept, and I woke up at 6:05am or so, still drunk, still feeling like I didn't sleep at all.
Going to work sucked balls... I had a headache, I was unimaginably tired, and the kicker was that I was going in for a 12 hour shift, in this condition... pretty sure I thought I was going to die. Once we got to work, Julie told me to try and sleep for an hour and just start at 8am, which I tried... I just went down to the basement, near the lockers, and just used my backpack and a chef's coat as a pillow and laid on the cold tile floor in my coat and tried to fall asleep, but the smell and uncomfortableness stopped it from happening, and after a half hour I just got changed and went to work.
I don't really need to mention the specifics of the day, it was a pretty standard weekend wedding twelve hour shift. My eyes were super heavy all day, I didn't eat a single thing the entire shift, the entire day, I felt a bit faint, had a headache (a hangover headache)... it was pretty shitty. I felt like I could've just sat down and slept at any point. The day did go by pretty quickly...
After my shift, I took a cab to Spaghetti Eddies, and met Julie and Connor to have a birthday dinner with some of Julie's friends. Sarah was there, she's super awesome, and a couple other people. Surprisingly I had spaghetti, I was barely awake and felt quite funny, but I could still talk and make some jokes and was okay. I would've loved to go to Elliot Brood at CTO which is where Connor and Julie were going, and I had originally planned on going, but because of how fucked up I was, and crazy tired and out of it, I just had to go home, it wasn't even a debate.
I took the bus home at 9:00pm, got home around 9:30pm or so, had a super hot bath, felt pretty relaxed, brought in the kitty litter, closed the door for the first time since spring, locked all the windows, and made some popcorn. I rewatched Community, and just started SNL, and wrote.. but I'm going to finish this up and go to sleep, because it's late and I'm ohmyfuckinggodtired.
Tomorrow I work 7am to 4pm, hopefully it goes quickly, and painlessly, as I have some school work I really need to do tomorrow.. Not an option, I need to do it. That's it for now!
