As Good As It Gets

Who would've thought that I'd actually get around to playing tennis in my lifetime. I had always talked about it, and my Mom and I always said we'd try to play and stuff, but I suppose it all just came down to actually buying rackets and getting up the nerves to embarrass myself on a public court.

My legs hurt, and I'm tired, but it was a lot of fun and I can’t wait until we can play again. Bekki and I hit the ball back and forth to get used to the feeling, and then eventually played a one set match, where I won 6 to 3. After tennis, we played catch for a bit but it hurt the shit out of my arm cause I threw too hard I guess, and I'm not twelve years old anymore.

I've been a lot more active lately, thanks in part to Bekki. I’m sure it’s her influence that has got me interested in exploring that aspect of life more, as it’s something she enjoys, and I want to enjoy things with her, so we’ve been going for bike rides and doing stuff outside.

I started and almost finished my C++ project today, in one day, and it felt great. The program is working now, and I just need to implement a thread pool so that it’s main function is threaded… that will be Monday probably.

I’ve been playing Fallout 1, Fallout 3 and Chrono Trigger lately, and it’s been fun. Mostly working on school though, so not a lot of time for games.

Tomorrow is work from 7am to 3pm, and I’m gonna try to take the bus to work so I can save on taking a cab. That means I need to wake up at 5am, so I’ll set the alarm and hope for the best, but to be honest I’m not sure what’s going to happen.

Another strange thing that I did recently was on Thursday I went into Heroes on Dundas and bought some comic books! Yeah, I know… it’s been years… probably… over ten years since I’ve bought a comic book. I don’t know exactly why, but I think hearing GFW Radio and the Geekbox talk about them from time to time made me want to read, or at least reminded me why I loved them so much back in the day. I was really interested in reading Batman: Dark Knight Returns as I’ve always heard good things about it, so I went in there looking for that book specifically… and ended up getting four books. All hard-cover collections, Batman: Dark Knight Returns, Batman: Year One, and Ultimate Spiderman Vol 1 and 2. I got the Spidermans because that used to be my favorite comic to read, so I wanted to see what it was like nowadays. I didn’t pick up any of the monthly books, only collections, as I figure that’s a good place to start. Who knows, maybe I’ll go back after I’ve read these and pick a couple more!

Anyway… I feel good, feel great. Things are good, and lots of great exciting things are coming or happening. Life has never, ever been better, and I have never been so confident that I will be leading a happy, productive life for a long time.

Bekkis is pretty and I love her.
