A Long Break

A large number of things have made it so I stopped writing, ranging from large, life altering things, to smaller, more hobby related things.

Back at the end of July, Bekki and I went to I4C, the international cool climate chardonnay festival, which we promptly picked up COVID. The day we got home it hit us, and the next morning we were out. It was basically a full week of near hallucination level sickness, both Bekki and I were down for the count, both kids basically taking care of themselves. That whole stretch really messed up my ability to find time to write, and had long lasting health effects, including taste, smell and shortness of breath issues (as well as perhaps blood pressure issues).

Shortly after recovering from COVID, I had to get two wisdom teeth out, with its own complications and lengthly recovery process. That was mid-august, and I am still recovering, having to clean out the holes in my mouth daily. For the most part it's better, but both sides of my lower jaw can still feel swollen and heavy. This surgery took weeks to recover from, and the painkillers, and breaks in routine, right after recovering from COVID broke my ability to write regularly even more.

After recovering from COVID, and then my wisdom teeth, I got a Steam Deck, and now when I watch Star Trek TNG, when I used to write, I tend to play games on the deck, while I watch.

I want to get back into it, so I will try harder. But I felt like I had to get this explanation out of the way.
