Winner
I don't think I've written about it, or maybe only a little, but I made my own wine at home. So far I've made two Sauvignon Blanc's and a Cabernet Sauvignon. Last week was the Wallacetown Fair and they had an amateur wine competition, so Bekki pressured me into entering. I really wasn't going to, I didn't think my wine was good enough. We were going to enter my white, because it's quite drinkable. I didn't think entering a red made any sense because not only is my read wine very young, I also don't think it's very good.
Well, we entered it on Thursday, and went Friday evening after it was judged, where they were serving the entered wines as a bar, where you can try all the entries. Well, when we got there, it turned out I had won 1st place in white wine, and 1st place in red wine, and my red won best in show.
I still think it's crazy the red won, but the white is pretty good. What a crazy thing.
Just this weekend we went to Niagara and got freshly harvested/pressed grape juice from Watsons farm in Niagara-on-the-lake, and I am currently fermenting 23L of Sauvignon Blanc and 23L of Reisling. I am quite excited to find out how this wine turns out, as it's the first time I'm truly making it from scratch.
I am very tired I would write more about the wine making process I've done so far, but maybe tomorrow.
