Working a Lot

I've been spending the majority of my time (usually from 11am to 11pm.. sometimes longer) working on various webkore projects, but specifically I've been working on one more than any other, the Webkore Knowledge Base we're developing from the ground up. It's a tool for support staff to look up answers to common questions, as well as troubleshooting steps for common issues. Working on this knowledge base has taken priority, at least for me, since it will take away almost all the stress of working support.

While working on the frame or basis of the knowledge base, I took it upon myself to learn MySQL (to be used with PHP) and I taught myself in about an hour, and was surprised to find out it's almost identical to the Oracle databases I learned for a semester in college, so I caught on extremely quickly and within one day, had succesfully made a script that used databases. Now that a few days have gone by, I'm really starting to get used to it, and doing more and more advanced things. Now that I've got a solid understanding of databases, I've decided that it's time to remake this website for the... fourth or fifth time.

When I first made this website back a a couple years, it was my first project after learning the basics of PHP, so I basically learned as I went along making it, and thus none of it is very well written, effecient or even well made. Recreating it takes a backseat to the knowledge base, but when I get sick of it, or have nothing to do at the moment, or have finished work for the day, I work on the basis of the new backend. There are some pretty exciting things that are going to come out of this redesign as well, like I'll finally be able to implement some of my ideas I've had all along, but was never able to use because I just didn't know how, or the way I knew how was too stupid. Some interesting things to look forward to is: accounts for all visitors, especially for those who leave comments. Custum avatars, it'll remember your personal information, and you'll also be able to track your comments, view any replies to them, view all the entries you've ever commented in, etc. Also, accounts whom I deem as Level 2 (or Special) will be able to flag entries for mistakes, and flag comments for innappropriate content. Private messages, comment counts, e-mail notifcations of new entries/comments are also all going to be introduces, as well as a simpler, cleaner and quicker loading layout.

I'm pretty excited about where this is heading, and I'm sure I'll keep everyone informed of my progress. I actually don't think it's going to take me that long to create the backend, and even less time to create the frontend, so.. expect it to just take a couple months or so. As well, the backend can easily be used by anyone else for running their own blog, taking advantage of all those neat features but not being limited by the rules/size limits/long urls of popular blog websites. Purchasing, leasing and using of my script will definatley be an option, and I already have a few who are interested.

I wish I was tired...

your subject lines are lacking, jordan. i think you need to think hard and make them more catchy, otherwise your fanbase will drop due to people uninterested in the headingds of your entries. they do them no justice. YA.

That's incredible Jordan. And now I am excited to see how it turns out! I'm glad your creating something new and interesting that you're clearly having fun doing. I like your hair. Yeah you know I wasn't going to leave that out. DYLAN!
