So earlier this afternoon I finished Resident Evil 4 on normal mode and it was quite the satisfying experience. The last boss was lovely; not to give anything away of course, but it was difficult enough to make it a fitting end to a great game, but it wasn't so hard that it's just frustrating and retarded. The story didn't exactly... wrap up... a lot of things were introduced during the course of the game, which weren't wrapped up before the end of the game, but that's only because they left the game open, so that there can be a sequal, and they made it quite obvious there will be a Resident Evil 5 continuation of the story.

Probably the best part of beating the game was that it unlocked two new modes that you can play through, unlock new features, new guns and other hidden things as you work your way through the unlocked modes. One is Merceneries, which is a huge killing spree basically. You pick one of four levels, one of five characters (you only start with Leon at first... you unlock new characters and new guns as you get high scores) and then you are unleashed to that stage. The point is to kill as many enemies as you can, without dying, in a set time limit. You get bonuses for kills in a row, as well, various powerups and time extenders hidden around each level. It's quite the entertaining and action packed mode, and a game in itself. The other mode is Assignment Ada, which is a chunk of the story viewed through the eyes of Ada, a character in the game. You must complete the mission, in it's entirity, without saving (since there are NO save points) and it's quite the difficult mission... however beating it unlocks additional weapons to be bought in the normal playthrough of the game, as well as revealing even more of the games story. Also when you beat the game, you unlocked the ability to play through the game on Professional difficulty, which I'm doing so now. It's much harder (and normal was hard.. *gets scared*

I finished the game with about 16 hours on the clock, which I've concluded was the perfect length, as opposed to what Tycho said.. he said the game seemed long, but he also said that he finished with 26 hours on the clock, which I can't imagine how it took that long. but anyway... as the game finished up, and an entire handfull of bonuses and extra modes were unlocked, it doesn't seem like I'm anywhere near done with this awesome game.
