GimmeSomeTune: App of the Day
Todays app is called GimmeSomeTune, which is a tiny little app (340kb) that works with iTunes, to display a neat, gorgeous looking, information box, with cover art, song information and other stuff whenever a new song starts playing in iTunes.
It does have other functions, such as iTunes hotkeys, the ability to download cover art from amazon.com if you don't have it (automatic) and a few other things, but the main reason I got it, and the main reason I'm recommending it, is because a lot of the times when I use iTunes and listen to music, I have the window closed and it's just in the dock, so when songs come on, especially on shuffle, I sometimes don't know what artist, album or song it is, and even if I do, it's nice to be reminded or shown the album artwork. When a new song plays, the info window appears (fade in) on the screen, stays for a set amount of time (5 seconds is default) and then fades out. You can drag the window anywhere on the screen and it will remember the location, and then fade in and out there, so you can place it in the bottom corner, top middle, or wherever you want.
I think it's such a neat, useful and beautiful app that everyone should use it. Oh yeah, and this is OS X only!
At least give it a shot... it may not be as cool on a lower resolution, since screen space is limited, but for me... I run 1680x1050, and having it placed in the bottom right of my screen is just perfect.
