Hot and Sweaty... Brice?
Alright, so I have a headache, I'm really tired, have been floating in and out of sleep on the couch for the last two hours, and worked a long shift because work is stupid... sounds like it should be a bad day, but I find myself feeling rather indifferent, and would instead classify the day as simply tiring.
I was woken up at around 5:20am this morning because of a giant, hurricane-like storm that started, with so much thunder and lightning, insane winds, crazy rain... it was nuts. It was so loud, and so powerful... I got up and closed windows, and I walked up to the living room window to see outside, and right as I did that some random board thing just slammed right into the window out of no where and scared the shit out of me. Shortly after that, the power went out, so I set the alarm on my phone and tried to go back to sleep, but it was difficult too, and I didn't get much sleep after that.
I took a cab to work, mainly because when I would've had to leave for work, it was still raining out, and I figured it was worth it considering the weather. When I got to work, the power was out, and I had to change via candlelight, and I basically spent the morning getting as much stuff for lunch ready that required no power, such as bowling salads, cheese tray, fruit and so on. It was an interesting morning to say the least, but it was fun.
The rest of the day was tiring, we had the lunches (two.. a sandwich lunch and a grand hall lunch buffet), and I had to carve on the buffet, which pretty much set me back an hour, a bunch of time where I could have been getting things ready but had to stand around cutting beef for old people.
In the evening we had a gala three, which is basically two giant tables full of platters, cheese, fruit, vegetables, smoked salmon, anti-pasto, shrimp and mussels (the list goes on...) and then hot food, baked bries, bruschetta, brie on garlic bread, a manned satay station, a carvery and potini bar... yeah. It's probably the event that requires the most work, and it's always just me and Jill to get that shit ready. What's annoying is that since we had lunches to do, that shit pretty much brings us to noon or so, which leaves two to three hours to get this giant event ready, which is just unrealistic. There should be more people in to do it. I knew it was bullshit and knew I was going to have to stay late, as little as I wanted to... but I did. I worked 11 hours... I was pretty fucking tired at the end, had a headache, was hot and sweaty and sticky and annoyed, and then I took the bus home.
Once home, I had burgers and potato wedges again, mainly because I had the burgers already made in the fridge, and that made it easy, and after my work day, easy is all I had in me. I watched Star Trek: TNG with dinner, and then watched the Shield afterward, at which point I fell asleep on the couch for about two hours, which I guess I needed because my head hurt so much and I felt like complete shit. Because of my sleep, I missed pretty much both episodes, but I'm not sure if I should rewatch them or just keep going, because I saw bits and pieces and saw the ending of one, so I dunno... I may just keep going.
I just threw on Jimmy Fallon and had a snack (jalapeno doritos yo) and now I'm probably gonna throw on an episode of the Shield and by the time that's over I'll probably be super tired and go to bed.
I've got tomorrow off work, gonna play Ratchet and Clank and Uncharted 2 I think... either way, I'm going to play a shit load of games, and enjoy my time off. It will be awesome, and you will be jeaous.
