It's all I have inside me
It was Wednesday and I had finished work, and came home. This would be where I normally write about work and what I did, but I honestly don't remember much detail, or really care enough to try and recall. The point is that I was home from work, okay? With me so far? Thanks.
I had talked to Tom on the phone while he was at work, and at that same moment, noticed that he was online on Facebook chat, so I obviously sent him a message along the lines of, "YOU AREN'T TOM YOU ASSHOLE" and as it turned out, it was Laura, his fiance, who was using his Facebook for... uhhh... trying to find information on parking at Fanshawe. Regardless, she replied to my message and we unexpectedly ended up talking for two hours, which is pretty much the first time we've really talked, and it was very enjoyable.
I had asked or, more so told Tom and Kyle about an event taking place at APK live centered around the idea of gamers meeting up and interacting in an effort to form a communitity, a way to meet like minded people, and there was also a NES competition, cheap drinks and food. Anyway, I told Tom to go and he said he might, but he had to work until close, so there was a good chance he wouldn't, simply because it would be late, so I didn't blame him, but after talking to Laura for so long, we decided that it was in her best interest to go there with me, and that way Tom would have no choice! It seemed foolproof, and even though I had never met Laura, I felt comfortable in the idea of having her meet me there and have some drinks together.
My friend Teri was the one who originally had told me about this event at the APK and I was meeting her there that evening, and she was with some friends, so it's only fair that I brought some of my own! Yes, I know, it sounds weird, but I indeed agreed to go out and do something social, with people, like... in real life. I'm not going to lie, I was nervous, meeting someone I had never met, at a bar I had never been to, to wait for another person I had never met to get there... all of it was pretty crazy if you know me, but I had a couple tallboys of Keiths White before leaving, and that helped, and I tend to get along with most people, so I know that if I actually can get somewhere without passing out, generally people will like me, and I'll be able to carry on a conversation.
When first arriving at APK, when you go in the door, you get a sticker that says, "Hi, My Game is: " and then you write your favorite game, and wear it like a nametag, so everyone in the place had their favorite game on them, so you could immediately begin a conversation if you so desired. I wrote Disgaea on mine, as besides World of WarCraft, it's probably the game series I've put the most hours in to. The majority of the time there was spent doing more or less the same thing, we shared pitchers of this organic beer that we declared "Farm Beer" because it kinda tasted like a barn. I went out and retrieved the Laura eventually, as she was being held against her will be an obese, greasy cab driver, and she joined our table and helped with conversation, as she was very nice and social. We all just took turns telling stories, laughing about stuff, talking about games, farm beer, and other stuff. Time seemed to go by very quickly, but I guess that's normal when you are out drinking.
Teri signed up for the competition with her friend, and they were called pretty early on to play, and while the effort was there, they got their ass kicked! It was fun to watch though, and everyone had fun. So that's what we did from about 8:00pm to around 10:30pm, when eventually Tom arrived and I went out and met him. We drank a couple more pitchers and at that point was pretty much just the four of us, Teri, Laura, Tom and myself, and we continued to just talk, eventually having the bar kick us out, but it was only 12:45am or something, and since it seemed like Tom just got there, we stood around on the street unsure of where to go or what to do, until I just suggested going to Scot's Corner, which we did. Once at Scot's, we got a couple more pitcher's, sitting in a booth and just chatting some more, mainly trying to remember why Laura was supposed to be mad at Tom, but we had a good time. We were there until it closed at 2am, and from there we just walked slowly down Dundas, eventually ending up at the Bell building, where we sat down on the steps for a few minutes before a security guard came out and told us to fuck off. Tom and Laura called for a cab, and off they went.
Today has been a very lazy day, but that's allowed when you went out drinking the day before. I've had naps, and lounged on the couch. I watched Star Trek and ordered pizza, had a long hot shower, wore comfortable clothes, all the normal shit you do when you don't feel like doing anything. Right now I put on Stigamata and it's one of the worst movies ever.. so bad... so, so bad. I will be going to sleep soon, as my sleeping pill seems to be winning, and sleep seems like a good idea.
This weekend is going to be really tough though, and I'm not really looking forward to it, as it's kind of a transition point into school, which just really sucks that I have to work a brutal weekend and then right away go to school. I work 10am to 8pm tomorrow, and then 8am to 6pm on Saturday, and then I'll most likely being opening on Sunday, so... yeah, not really going to have any time to do anything but sleep.
My bus pass expired on the 31st of August, so I need to use bus tickets to go to and from work, and to school on the first day, because I just haven't had the chance or time to go to the school and get a new one, which sucks.
Another side note, I paid rent today, which means I had to log in to my bank account, and I noticed something that I didn't really pay attention to, but I haven't bought any food, or used my debit card at all for over ten days! No wonder my fridge is empty, but in exchange for that, I actually have some money. Yeah, I eat spaghetti a lot, but I enjoy it, so there really isn't much of a downside. I realize that I need to go soon, but as I mentioned, I'm pretty fucking busy this weekend, so I doubt I will have time to go to the grocery store until Monday probably. Oh well, I'll survive, and if I have to, I can buy cat food from a variety store.
May as well end it there and wait for this terrible movie to be over, and then I will go to bed and begin this horrible weekend. Ughh....
