Wake Up.

I worked at 6am this morning. I woke up at 5:50am. Do you see the problem here? Yes, that's right, I woke up when I should've been starting work, and I said - out loud- "You've got to be kidding me". It was hard to believe, especially considering I had gone to sleep relatively early compared to when I normally sleep. Bed by 11pm, I would usually have no problem waking up, and I almost always set my phone's alarm on nights where I need to wake up at ungodly hours, but this night... I forgot, or didn't think it necessary... whichever.

I bolted out of bed, knowing that I had no time to eat or make coffee, or do anything, I immediately got dressed and called Windermere to let front desk know I was going to be late, and then called a cab and finished getting ready. I truly terrible way to start any day, to be sure. The pain in the ass, or at least the thing that made this a bigger deal then it had to be, was that I had a breakfast at 6:45am that couldn't be late, along with the normal continental that starts at 7am, but is a bit more flexible with lateness (since most of the time there are no guests to eat breakfast right away). I still managed to get all the food out on time, for both things, and while it wasn't any way I'd like to start my day, it worked out okay.

After breakfast was out, I got soups ready, and made quiche - green pepper, ham and onion - and got tomorrow's quiche prepared while I was at it. I got both lunches for the next day prepared as well, and put away an order, did my own dishes, and got the CVG stuff ready... I realize this means nothing to most people, or everybody for that matter, but I don't care... or maybe I do. I don't know, maybe I won't go into the very specific specifics, but it's what's coming out when I write, so why fight it? Anyway... I had to go down to the CVG (the convergence center at the bottom of the hill where I work, it houses various business, research places, and so on. We have a sandwich shop there and someone needs to work it during the lunch period.) Wait what was I saying? Oh yeah, I had to go to the CVG for an hour, and once I walked back up, I roasted some cauliflower for a soup, put it on the stove, and left. I had a giant headache, and this was most likely caused by not having breakfast, not having coffee or caffeine, and you know... stress, but probably those first two things. I didn't eat all day or drink any coffee, and that's generally a recipe for disaster.

It took forever to get home, and the bus ride was alright. I took two Advil and two extra strength Tylenol before I left work, in hopes it would relieve my intense headache, and it may have helped a tiny bit but for the amount of medication consumed, I was hoping for a bit more relief. Once I got downtown, after drifting in and out of sleep on the bus, I had to wait twenty minutes for my connecting bus, and I was hungry, and it was still the early afternoon, so I decided to go to Tim Horton's (which is right where I wait) and I got two donuts and a coffee, and ate them in literally less than a minute I'd guess. It almost instantly made me feel better... not better better, but a measurable amount of relief from my headache. It didn't get rid of it, but it certainly felt better, and that's what made me think it was perhaps a lack of caffeine that caused the headache, but in any case, a small bit of relief was welcomed, and I eventually caught the bus home.

Once home, I knew the only true cure for my headache was to sleep, and it wasn't like I had a choice. It wasn't some debate I had or some decision I made, it was more just what happened, almost like I wasn't in control of it. I knew that I had to eat something with a bit more substance then the donuts, considering I hadn't eaten anything all day, so I quickly made a nice toasted tomato sandwich, drank back a Coke and ate a pickle, and quickly walked to my bed, collapsed in it, and fell asleep instantly. I don't even remember laying down really, or what time it was, or if I was even thinking about anything, I just went to sleep.

I woke up when Bekki arrived. It was around 5:30pm when she came, so I had been sleeping for three hours or so, I guess... like I said, I don't remember when I laid down, but I woke up feeling significantly better, which was good. Once up, I decided I wanted to get out, to enjoy the weather and feel alive, so I was going to ride to the grocery store, and Bekki was going to go for a run. I picked up junk food for us at the store, as well as some bread (gotta have a balanced diet) and the bike ride was tiring, more so than normal - most likely because of my lack of food/energy all day. It still felt good to get out and be active, and it was nice to get home too. Once I got home, I made coffee and ate a wonderful cream egg, and then drank coffee and read A Clash of Kings on the porch, continuing to enjoy the weather.

Once Bekki returned, she started work on an essay and I continued to work on my money project, making decent progress, or enough progress that I was satisfied for the night. The feature set I'm currently working on is almost done, and once I'm done that, I'll probably take a break from the project and either start something new, or just take a break from programming for a little bit... I'm going back to school and will be programming a lot soon, so perhaps not going into it burned out already would be in my best interest.

I had a bath, watched some Jimmy Fallon, ate some popcorn and decided to write. Exciting right? Tomorrow is a busy day, moving Bekki and then... date night? Maybe! I haven't thought about it yet, no idea what we'd do for dinner and entertainment, but I'm sure I can think of something.
