My Life is but a Fable... let is slide.

Oooh, silly Jordan I say, silly Jordan. Where shall I begin! SO MUCH TO TALK ABOUT!! Okay, well really not that much, but let's see if I can flush it out! I guess we can start with yesterday... after Emily had gone to school, I couldn't quite get back to sleep, as usual, so I decided to sit down, and just play Final Fantasy 4, and build up my charactesr, and I wouldn't take a no from my mind as an answer. So that's exactly what I did... for three or four hours. I got up about ten levels or so, fighting the hardest monsters in the game, in the room a few rooms before the very last boss. While the monsters started out pretty tough, often bringing my party to the double digits in hitpoints, by the end it was a walk in the park, and the enemies could barely scratch me, let alone even threaten to kill me, so it was only a matter of time, not risk, to get up to a high enough level to take on the last boss, Zeromus. I had tried earlier, the day before actually, to take on Zeromus on a much earlier level, and I guess we can just say that he unzipped his pants and went to town on my partys asses (which is why I decided to build up a lot, naturally). So after my hard work of fighting and fighting (and listening to random music at the same time), I decided to give it another try, after Rydia had learned Meteo, and everyone had a quite large pool of hitpoints. I marched in there, gripped the controller as tight as I could (probably a bit tigher than was neccessary, but this was an intense battle) and about five to ten minutes later, I had defeated him!!

Final Fantasy 4 is one of the hardest Final Fantasys, especially if you turn the ATB system on Active, and turn up the battle speed. The bosses are hard, the mosnsters always deal a lot of damage, and this final battle with Zeromus wasn't an exception. He attacked me constantly with an attack called Big Bang, which struck my entire party for almost 2000, and I had to heal turn after turn with Rosa (Cure 4) just to stay alive. I ordered Kain to jump non-stop, Cecil to attack with the Excalibur, Rydia to summon the god of summons Bahumut, and Edge to throw stars over and over again... and after a long and tiresome battle, I had won, which was like a breath of fresh air, since I barely breathed at all throughout the entire fight! Now without giving anything away, the ending was somewhat of a let down. It was much to cliche, even for Final Fantasy 4, and a lot of it doesn't even make much sense. The game as a whole seemed like an early experiement to see if Square could tell a story using a Final Fantasy game, which succeeded... I mean, they did tell a story, even though it lacked detail, character background or depth.. it moved from one thing to the next so quick you didn't even have a chance to take any of it in, and it just kinda bounces off of you without really sinking in... but since it was the first Final Fantasy to really try a story, instead of gameplay based RPG, I have to give it credit, since it was still enjoyable to play through, learn about the characters (even though it wasn't much) and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys the Final Fantasys. It has a pretty high dfficulty though, so you should probably attempt this one after mastering the others beforehand. The game is reletively short, as my game clocked in only at 23 hours, and most of that was building up. I actually arrived at the last area at 16 hours, so that gives you a sense of how short it is... but then again, I knew exactly what I was doing, having complete the game numerous times beforehand.

After I had finally completed the game, I felt very accomplished, but very tired, so I took that as my queue to go to bed, or take a nap for a better phrase. I basically slept the day away, and away, and away... and so on, not waking until 5:30 or so, after the entire day had passed me by. This angered me... to say the least. It put me in a horrid mood, which didn't go away until very late that same night. Emily got home from work, and we laid around, talked for a bit... I told her about my bad mood, she told me about hers... I told her about beating Final Fantasy 4... but I don't think she acknowledged it, or cared, but I can't really expect her to, or any of you really. I guess beating a game, especially one from 1991 no less, isn't exactly news worthy... but strangely enough, it means a lot to me, and hopefully soon I can claim to have beat every single Final Fantasy, which is coming near to completion. Anyway, after Emily had decided to go to sleep, which she did around 12:30 or so, I sat around on the computer for a bit, trying to decide what to do. I had finished my main game (Final Fantasy 4) and just had my side game left (Final Fantasy 3) and so I needed something to focus my time and energy on... and I quickly decided... Final Fantasy 5! I had perviously played through quite a bit of the game, about a year ago actually (just go in the archives and I'm sure you can find an entry or two about the game) but I couldn't really remember much about it, although I remember it being much harder than any other Final Fantasy I had played, as well as being one of the most addicting and satisfying games I had ever played. The system it uses, an upgrade job system earlier seen in Final Fantasy 3, gives you not only instant gratification due to the endless combinations and quick and easy switching, but it also gives you so much depth and possiblity; all the different combinations of characters... what to choose, what to choose, I just don't know!! It's soooo fun though. Back to the point though...

It was around 1am or so when I decided to put in the magical disk of Final Fantasy 5, and turn on the PS2 and sit down at the end of the bed and begin my journey through a game which quite possibly could become one of my favorite all time Final Fantasys (currently the title is held by 6). I played... and played.. and played some more; never stopping, not even to pee. I played until the sun was up... I played until Emily was awake, and getting dressed for school... the game sucked me in so fast, that I played for about 9 hours straight, non-stop (and that's not including loading times, which would tack on an extra two hours or so almost). I got pretty far... I believe I'm already on level 19 or so, and I've tried my best to use all of the available jobs, and I'm having a blast so far. Once I got too tired to stay awake and play, which happened around 12 or so in the afternoon, I turned off the game, and laid down to rest (finally).

I slept uninterupted until around 1:30 or so, when Emily woke me up so we could go to the mall to get the few things that I knew we needed (Kitty Litter, new Kitty Boxes, Cat Food, Sleeping Pills (mmm) and Coke) and I resisted.. a lot. I didn't want to get up.. I was fucking tired for christ sakes, I mean... how couldn't I be!? She finally convinced me out of bed, and we went to the mall post haste! I got everything I intended to, but stopped in at EBGames to tease myself. I looked at Fable.. and drooled a bit.. and I think I might have exploded in my pants.. not sure. I.. broke down. I tried putting Fableon my Visa, but it was decline (I thought I had paid off $100 of credit, but I was wrong, I had only paid off $50). When that was declined, I had already got my hopes up and my mind set, and I paid for it quickly on debit, grabbed the game, licked it, and off to home we were.

When I got home, Emily had to leave for work (she got a job... more on that tomorrow.. when I'm not dying of sleepyness), I played Fable for about an hour or an hour and a half, and enjoyed every second of it, but knew I still needed sleep, so I turned it off and had another nap... this time until Emily came home from work at 8:30 and woke me up. I cooked us supper (chicken legs, sidekicks and corn) and we watched Home Movies... and when that was over, I played some more Fable! Man.. this game is an orgasm. BUT I'm going to torture you and write about it tomorrow instead of today, because this entry is long enough as it is, and this sleeping pill is totally kicking my ass. So look for a tiny "Intital Impressions" write up in tomorrows entry, and just a note: It's lookin damn good for Fable.

I'm just about asleep, so off to bed I go. Sorry for cutting this entry short, as it seems. I'll make up for it tomorrow with a lot of Fable goodness. Goodnight everyone, and buy Fable already.
