Unoriginal Bastards

I was just reading some gaming news, when I saw a press release from a company about their game Dunegeon Lords, and I saw a summary of features, and I couldn't help but laugh at how they try to make everything sound so good and new and innovative, when really it's all been done a hundered times. Let's see.. I'll translate into what a gamer see's when he or she reads something like this:

"Dungeon Lords" Features:
  • Real-time player control of all combat tactics, including a vast selection of weaponry, magic spells and powerful artifacts
You point and click, to hack and slash monsters. There are items in the game, and some spells.

  • Detailed character development includes a host of personal attributes, skills, and special abilities
There's going to be STR, DEX, VIT and MAG. Probably a skill tree too, if we don't suck too much.

  • Four completely distinct schools of magic
We're going to use the tired elements of wind, fire, ice and lightning.

  • Multiple class specializations, each with unique abilities and attributes
There will be a warrior, archer and magic user.

  • Extensive inventory features common, rare, and unique items
We're such lazy bastards that one of the things we stole right out of Diablo, we forgot to rename.

  • Designed, written and developed by award-winning computer game author, D.W. Bradley
    Who?

  • Full support for multiplayer group game sessions for up to eight players
We're gonna call it Battle.Com and hope Blizzard doesn't sue.

  • Multiplayer adjusts to the number of players; the more players, the more difficult the monsters they encounter
We have yet to come up with our own ideas.

  • Go save yourself some money and buy Diablo 2 and forget about this game.

I woke up around 1pm today, and crawled out of bed and talked to Emily and Ally. I got ready to go out with Ally, and... then did... go out with Ally. We met at Argyle, went into EB Games and looked around, then went to Wal-Mart where we looked at bad movies on DVD and VHS which were being sold for $3 bucks each. Ally found a few she wanted, so after we looked at them all, we went and paid and then headed to the bus. We rode to Value Village, where we looked around at the clothes for a bit, finding ugly stuff to try to get Ally to waer (like shoulder paded, pink with black polkadots womens blazer) and after looking at everything, I went up to Dana (the supervisor that I went drinking with last sunday) and talked to her and then asked for an application. I filled it out and attatched my resume, and she said I had a good chance for various reasons, and that she'd put it on the top of the pile and give me a good word AND tell them that I'm friends with people who work there. So heres hoping....

After Value Village I went home, but stopped off at the mall to buy some cat food, and then went home. Once home I just talked to Ally and waited for Emily to come online, which she still has yet to do :(

I'm bored.. have nothing to do. I miss Emily and wonder where she is. I was gonna go out tonight but Ally wasn't feel well and I was tired, so we passed on it, so now I'm all home and bored and lonely. I thought maybe writing would make me feel better...

    I was wrong.
