Lord of War

I watched Lord of War today, and although some parts were disturbing, they were neccessarily disturbing, as they didn't make anything up... shit that happened in this movie was real and wasn't a fantasy, and watching it made it that much more disturbing. It brings up a lot of good questions, especially about war. Is it wrong to supply arms to people to kill? How about to defend themselves? Well those positions can be switched depending on what side you're viewing it from. Is it the gun traders that cause the death, or are the people pulling the triggers the responsible ones? I highly recommend this film to any intelligent person, who likes to get different perspectives on things. Nicolas Cage was excellent as an actor and a narrator, and the film was intense, emotional and disturbing because deep down it was extremely realstic (at the end of the film it even says it was based on true events and real people). Webkore Survived!

Last night both Anthony and myself decided to go out for an hour or two, leaving Webkore completely unmanned. I think that's the first time we've really done that actually. For those that don't know, we have a respond-in-30-minutes-or-get-a-refund policy, so it's kind of a big deal with we miss a ticket.

When I got home from the bar I checked tickets and there were none. We rock!

Protect me from what I want

As everyone saw, yesterday I spent some time creating a message board, then adding features and fixing problems with it throughout the day. In total I probably spent an hour or so working on it, and I'm pretty happy with the results. As per Tony's request, a UBB style to the board is about 90% done, and it's built into the script, you just tell it which style you want to use. There are a few things I need to add before I can actually start letting people use that feature though, and I'll probably do that later today.

    Threaded Goodness

I got up a few minutes ago... about a half hour ago. I was thinking about ways for people to talk or send messages without it being a comment on an entry (if it was unrelated) and the only two things I could think of were a private message system or a message board. I figured the message board would be more fun and more used, so I decided to make it. I chose to make it threaded, since they're a dying breed, but much easier to read, especially if the user base is small.

    The Day After

I've got Windows XP all settled and comfortable on the computer now, all my software installed and tested. I can now play all my PC games on the Mac (Max Payne 2 mostly) but I can also play my other games (StarCraft and Diablo 2) through Windows because they run better. I've got Luna VX running, Firefox and Thunderbird, a seperate forwarding e-mail address so both my OS's get a copy of my emails, arachnophila, photoshop and winamp. All my music and movies are on my external harddrive which is formatted in Fat32 so both the OS's can read and write to it, and the way boot camp handles the partitioning, I can read and write to the Windows partition from within OSX.

    iWindows Xp Tiger

Tonight Apple released Boot Camp, software that finally let people install Windows Xp on a Mac. This is not emulation or anything, this is running the OS on a seperate partition. I successfully installed Windows XP on my iMac tonight, although when I installed the Mac drivers (for the Mac Hardware) it failed after installing the ATI drivers, so when I'm in Windows I can't access the internet, which kind of makes it less useful. I can still play the games I have that are PC only (Max Payne 2 I'm looking at you) and I can still transfer files back and forth between XP and OS X (for working on things, and giving software etc), so it will have it's uses.

Right now I'm burning a new copy of Windows XP with SP2, and I'm going to attempt a reinstallation and see if it goes any better. If not, I'll just live with what I have and use XP for Max Payne 2, and if it works, then that's awesome.

Other than that, today has been completely uneventful.
